{"id":642,"date":"2018-12-17T15:07:41","date_gmt":"2018-12-17T14:07:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/diplomatstockholm.org\/?p=642"},"modified":"2021-02-14T01:48:50","modified_gmt":"2021-02-14T00:48:50","slug":"ads-promotes-pollinator-friendly-activities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diplomatstockholm.org\/?p=642","title":{"rendered":"ADS promotes pollinator friendly activities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;3.22&#8243;][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;3.25&#8243;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;3.25&#8243; custom_padding=&#8221;|||&#8221; custom_padding__hover=&#8221;|||&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.7.6&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>During International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) in 2018 several Embassies joined the initiative to support pollinators by planting urban wildflowers in Diplomatstaden in Stockholm (see below).<br \/>Since then, the Diplomatic community has played a central role in raising the profile of the project Stockholm Loves Pollinators* among key stakeholder groups in the city.<br \/>In addition to placing a beehive in the grounds of the English Church, the American, British, Dutch, German, Hungarian, Israeli, Japanese and Norwegian Embassies have supported the project by reviewing the properties they manage to explore how they can make them more pollinator-friendly.<\/p>\n<p>The area of Kruthusplan in the Diplomatstaden is a landing place for pollinators and an important transport corridor between the area of G\u00e4rdet and Nobelparken and onwards to the island of Djurg\u00e5rden.<\/p>\n<p>The photos below show before the planting of the wildflowers and how it gradually has developed to a meadow.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_gallery gallery_ids=&#8221;653,651,652&#8243; posts_number=&#8221;3&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;3.0.47&#8243; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;][n _i=&#8221;0&#8243; _address=&#8221;0.0.0.1.0&#8243; \/][n _i=&#8221;1&#8243; _address=&#8221;0.0.0.1.1&#8243; \/][\/et_pb_gallery][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>Several eco-friendly activities, i.e. workshops and seminars, are planned for 2019 with the aim to continue the work in making the city pollinator-friendly.<\/p>\n<p>You may read more about the vision of creating Stockholm City\u2019s first Pollinator conservation zone <a href=\"https:\/\/diplomatstockholm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/VisionOctober2018-Finalpdf.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>*Stockholm Loves Pollinators is a grassroots project run by Bin i Stan (part of U&amp; We sustainability bureau) together with the British Embassy, English Church, Forbundet for Ekoparken and Vetenskapens Hus.
