The ADS over the coming months will organise a series of webinars on the topic of digital diplomacy, where we would like to address the many ways that the progression of digitalization has impacted the work of embassies and functions of diplomats. This has created challenges for the diplomatic community but as well opportunities with the use of innovative digital tools and platforms.
Our first webinar, in co-operation with the Oxford Digital Diplomacy Research Group, aims to explore the use of digital technologies in diplomacy covering strategic communication and digital influence as part of the Groups digital ambassador’s forum.
The Group is an academic collaborative project that aims to further the study and practice of digital diplomacy and is led by Prof. Corneliu Bjola together with Dr. Jennifer Cassidy and Dr. Ilan Manor. The group holds regular talks, workshops and public events with members of the diplomatic community in London and across the world. Additionally, Prof. Bjola has authored several books, including “Digital Diplomacy: Theory and Practice (2015)” and “Countering Online Propaganda and Extremism: The Dark Side of Digital Diplomacy (2018)”; listed in the 20 best new international relations books to read in 2019.
