The Swedish Defence Research Agency – FOI, is one of Europe’s leading research institutes in defence and security. FOI is a government authority under the Ministry of Defence and conducts research in defence, security and safety at all levels of society – nationally, regionally and locally.
The Director of International Affairs, Mr Mårten Sundmark, will give an introduction of the agency, their research and international collaboration.
Head of research and group leader for the data-science team, Ms Lisa Kaati, will present some of her research on violent extremism and the threat from lone actors in the digital space. A particular focus will be on the increasing threat from violent lone actors and Internet’s role in some of the recent attacks from lone actors. Some technologies for analysing digital threats and for assessing the risk of violence in written communication will also be demonstrated.
